I will never join politics, even for $1bn – Oyedepo

Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has categorically ruled out any involvement in partisan politics, declaring that no amount of money could lure him into the political arena.

The renowned cleric made the statement during the just-concluded Shiloh 2025 programme held at the Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, where he addressed thousands of worshippers.

Oyedepo stressed that politics was not part of his divine calling, insisting that his focus remained firmly on spiritual leadership and kingdom advancement.

“Partisan politics is off my calling. Even if you give me one billion dollars to join politics, I won’t,” he said.

He urged believers to prioritise their divine assignments over worldly ambitions, pointing to biblical figures such as Joseph and Daniel, whom he said influenced nations significantly without occupying political offices.

The cleric also reflected on his past prophecies, recalling warnings he gave the church in 2015 about challenges Nigeria would face, which he noted have since manifested.

According to him, true and lasting influence comes from spiritual alignment and obedience to divine purpose, especially in times of global and national uncertainty, rather than participation in electoral politics.

Oyedepo’s position reinforces his long-held stance on separating ministry from partisan politics, despite growing pressure on religious leaders within Nigeria’s increasingly polarised political environment.

As the Shiloh 2025 programme drew to a close, the bishop’s message resonated strongly with his followers, emphasising eternal purpose over the pursuit of temporal power, even as the country looks ahead to future elections.
