IGP Disu sacks Hundeyin as police PRO

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has removed its Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, six months after he assumed the position.

The decision, approved on Thursday, March 5, 2026, comes amid ongoing internal restructuring within the police hierarchy.

Sources within the force said the development followed recent leadership changes after President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Tunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police barely 24 hours earlier.

Disu was appointed last week as the 23rd IGP following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had held the position since 2023.

A senior police source confirmed that the removal of Benjamin Hundeyin took place on Thursday morning.

“The Force Public Relations Officer has been removed this morning.”

As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities have yet to provide an official explanation for the decision, and it remains unclear who will replace Hundeyin in the role.
