IGP probes Portable for founding One Million Boys, Ajah Boys cult groups

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered a probe of controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, well known as Portable, over comments that he founded two notorious cult groups which terrorised residents of different areas of Lagos State.

The IGP’s directive was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.

Portable had said he is the founder of two cult groups, One Million Boys and Ajah Boys.

The singer boasted being the founder of the cult groups in a video which surfaced online on Monday.

In the now-deleted video, the musician, who spoke in Yoruba, said: “Open your ears and hear me, you’ve heard about Ajah Boys, One Million Boys, I’m their founder.”

However, the Force spokesperson noted that the IGP has ordered the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate Portable’s statement and take necessary legal action.

Adejobi stated: “Sequel to the trending video of one Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable where he claimed to have formed the One-Million Boys cult group terrorising some parts of Lagos State, the IGP has ordered CP Lagos to investigate the indicting statement and take necessary legal action.

“This directive is premised on the continuous effort of the Nigeria Police Force to fish out pillars and sponsors of cult groups in order to decimate their activities and restore sanity to our society.”

The Star recalls that Portable was interrogated in June by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly assaulting his former Disc Jockey, identified as DJ Chicken.

One of the ‘Zazuu Zeh’ crooner’s aides later hit a motorcyclist with the musician’s Range Rover car in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the motorcyclist, who was hit at the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State, later died in the hospital.

The incident was reported to have occurred when Portable’s aide was running errands with the singer’s car.

The famous singer recently made headlines for campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Portable canvassed votes for the incumbent governor and APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, just as he also asked Nigerians to vote for the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu, during the 2023 presidential election.
