Olatunji Disu has disclosed that the police received allegations that some criminal suspects being sought by law enforcement are hiding inside the Osun State Government House.
Disu made the disclosure on Friday during a meeting with Ademola Adeleke at the Government House in Osogbo.
Addressing the governor, the IGP said he had received complaints that Adeleke and others were dissatisfied with the performance of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.
He, however, said the police commissioner had also briefed him on allegations that individuals wanted by the police were taking refuge in the Government House.
According to Disu, he questioned why suspects would be allowed to remain in the Government House if the allegations were true.
The IGP said he had subsequently advised the commissioner on how to handle the matter, adding that the police had received reports that suspected criminals were being sheltered by different political interests.
Disu did not disclose the identities of the suspects or provide further details to substantiate the allegations during the meeting. He also did not state whether any investigation had confirmed the claims.
