Ikosi-Isheri youths rally behind Tinubu, Hamzat ahead of 2027 elections

Hundreds of youths from Ikosi-Ketu and Isheri in Lagos State on Sunday staged a solidarity march in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship ambition of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The procession, organised by the Ikosi-Isheri Active Progressive Youth (IAPY), covered about three kilometres from Mile 12 Roundabout through Ketu to CMD Road.

Participants, dressed in branded T-shirts and caps bearing the images of Tinubu and Hamzat, sang, danced and chanted slogans in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders as they moved through major streets in the area.

Speaking during the rally, IAPY spokesperson and filmmaker, Babaseun Fasheru, said the group was endorsing President Tinubu because of what it described as the bold economic reforms introduced since he assumed office in 2023.

According to him, although many Nigerians are experiencing economic hardship, the reforms are necessary and will ultimately yield positive results.

“We are encouraged by the strides President Bola Tinubu has made since assuming office. The reforms may be difficult at the moment, but we believe they will restore the economy and improve the lives of Nigerians in the long run,” he said.

Other youth leaders, including Temitope Olaleye, Shodeinde Akeem Olakunle and Kareem Akeem, said the march was aimed at demonstrating the community’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and Hamzat’s suitability to govern Lagos State.

The organisers said the solidarity walk would continue as part of their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event was sponsored by youth leader Hon. Alaba Shonaike, popularly known as “Cypon.”
