“I’m not for sale,” Kwankwaso declares after Gov Yusuf’s NNPP exit

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declared that he remains committed to his political principles and will not trade them for personal benefit.

Kwankwaso spoke in Kano on Friday while addressing supporters at his residence, hours after reports emerged that Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, alongside some local government chairmen, members of the House of Representatives and aides, resigned from the NNPP.

Reacting to the development, Kwankwaso said his political journey had always been driven by the desire to uplift ordinary Nigerians.

“I’m not for sale. My political convictions keep me grounded.

“If I were after personal gain, I would have taken the easy path and you would not find me here,” he said.

He stressed that the Kwankwasiyya Movement was sustained by shared ideals, not financial inducements.

“If greed was my motivation, I would have taken the money and left.

“The fact that you are here shows that our struggle is built on common values,” he added.

The former Kano governor urged his supporters to intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against complacency.

He also expressed concern over recent political developments in the state, saying preparations must begin immediately.

“Looking at what is happening in Kano today, we must be ready. There are people determined to destroy what we have built over time,” he said.

Kwankwaso reaffirmed his commitment to defending the interests of the masses, pledging not to compromise with those he accused of exploiting the people.
