I’m waiting for FG approval to dislodge criminals — Igboho

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has said he is still awaiting approval from the Federal Government to launch his proposed security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, aimed at tackling criminal activities in forests across the South-West.

In a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Igboho disclosed that all necessary documentation and procedural requirements for the outfit’s registration had been submitted, and he expects approval soon.

He said the initiative is designed to support efforts to flush out kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening rural communities, adding that the group is ready to collaborate with security agencies including the police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Igboho also expressed willingness to comply with the recent executive order signed by Seyi Makinde regulating private security outfits in the state. The order, introduced to improve coordination and oversight of community-based security groups, mandates that all such organisations operate within a defined legal framework.

Commending President Bola Tinubu, Igboho said the administration has shown commitment to addressing insecurity across the country, particularly in the South-West.

He stressed that strengthening security is essential for economic growth, especially in rural areas where agriculture remains a key source of livelihood, noting that peace and stability are critical for sustainable development.
