Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an Indian businessman, Gupta Ravi Kumar, alongside three Nigerian accomplices — Ogunlana Noah Olanrewaju, Olushola Idrees Kayode, and Bakare Korede Muheeb — in connection with a massive tramadol bust at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The suspects were linked to the seizure of 2,248,000 pills of tramadol 200mg/225mg, imported from Delhi, India and disguised as multi-vitamins in 114 cartons.
The consignment, valued at ₦3.99 billion, arrived on an Ethiopian Airlines flight on September 8.
NDLEA operatives placed the cargo under surveillance and arrested a clearing agent and two drivers attempting to move it in trucks on September 11.
A follow-up operation led to Kumar’s arrest the following day when he attempted to take delivery of the shipment.
