Global mobility platform inDrive has launched a tricycle service, Keke, in Nigeria to provide commuters with a cheaper option for short-distance trips while creating additional earning opportunities for drivers.

The service, announced on September 28, 2026, is designed for journeys within an estimated six to seven kilometres, extending the company’s fair-price model to a popular mode of transport in the country.

According to the company, the service will focus primarily on shorter trips in line with existing restrictions on tricycle operations along certain major roads and highways.

Timothy Oladimeji, Country Manager of inDrive Nigeria, said the launch would make the platform accessible to more commuters while expanding income opportunities for drivers.

He said the service was designed to address demand for affordable and accessible transportation, particularly among people travelling shorter distances.

“The future of mobility is not simply about moving faster; it is about enabling broader economic participation,” Oladimeji said.

He added that the service would allow passengers to travel within their communities without spending beyond their means, while giving drivers another opportunity to earn income.

Oladimeji said the company was introducing the service within applicable regulations as part of its efforts to broaden transportation options for Nigerians.

The launch expands inDrive’s offerings in Nigeria by adding tricycles to its mobility services, targeting commuters seeking more affordable alternatives for shorter journeys.
