The Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies in Kano State have expressed readiness for the by-elections scheduled for Saturday in Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government Area constituencies.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu, said a joint security arrangement had been activated to ensure a peaceful and credible exercise.
He noted that personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other agencies had been deployed to polling units, collation centres and key locations to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Adamu added that movement would be restricted across Kano Municipal and Ungogo LGAs from midnight to 6:00 p.m. on election day to facilitate the smooth conduct of the polls.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Abdu Zango, commended security agencies for their cooperation and confirmed that all necessary electoral materials had been deployed.
He said the by-elections were intended to restore representation in the state assembly and strengthen grassroots democratic governance.
