Inferno rocks DHL, FCMB offices in Kano

A major fire outbreak has reportedly engulfed parts of Kano metropolis, affecting buildings along Murtala Muhammad Way, including offices belonging to DHL and FCMB.

The incident was disclosed in the early hours of Friday by former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, who revealed in a post on X that the midnight inferno had spread to several structures in the area.

According to him, emergency responders were battling to contain the blaze as calls intensified for reinforcement from state, federal and private fire service agencies to prevent further destruction of property.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been officially determined, while authorities were yet to confirm the extent of damage or whether there were casualties.

The latest incident adds to a string of devastating fire outbreaks recorded across Kano State within the last one year.

In June 2025, a massive fire razed a large section of the popular GSM Market at Farm Centre, destroying shops and goods worth millions of naira and forcing the state government to launch an investigation into the disaster.

The state was again hit by multiple fire emergencies in November 2025 when three persons lost their lives in separate fire and explosion incidents recorded in different parts of Kano.

In February 2026, traders suffered huge losses after a devastating inferno swept through the Singer Market, destroying hundreds of shops and property worth billions of naira. The incident prompted President Bola Tinubu to order a comprehensive investigation into the recurring market fires in the state.

Barely days after the Singer Market incident, another fire outbreak struck the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in the Dakata area of Kano, where dozens of shops were destroyed and traders lost goods valued at millions of naira.

The recurring incidents have continued to raise concerns among residents and business owners over fire safety measures and emergency response capabilities in Kano, one of Nigeria’s busiest commercial hubs.

Authorities are expected to provide further details on the latest fire outbreak as firefighting operations continue.
