Innoson Vehicles gifts N3m scholarship to best 2023 UTME candidate

A leading Nigerian automobile manufacturer, Innoson Vehicles, has awarded a N3 million scholarship to the overall best student in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE), Ejikeme Joy.

Joy, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, emerged as the overall best student in the 2023 UTME with a score of 362.

The student, an indigene of Enugu State who resides in Nnewi, scored 98 marks in English Language, 89 in Physics, 94 in Biology, and 81 in Chemistry.

The Head of Corporate Communications, Innoson Group, Cornel Osigwe, who made this known via a statement issued on Monday, May 8, said the gesture by Innoson Vehicles was not only a celebration of academic excellence but also a reflection of the company’s dedication to investing in the education of young Nigerians.

Osigwe quoted the Chairman of Innoson Vehicles, Dr Innocent Chukwuma, as saying the scholarship will go a long way in providing financial support to Joy and enabling her to pursue her tertiary education with ease in the next five years.

Chukwuma said the scholarship to the best UTME candidate was not only rewards academic excellence but to serve as an inspiration to other students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

“The company will continue to demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility through various initiatives, including scholarship awards, job creation, and support for local communities.

“This latest scholarship award is a testament to Innoson Vehicles’ dedication to empowering young Nigerians and investing in the future of the nation,” he added.

Osigwe further quoted the student’s father, who is an Okada rider, as thanking the Innoson Vehicles Chairman for the scholarship and promising to make him proud.
