The Katsina State Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of all boarding and day schools across the state following the recent abductions of students in Kebbi and other parts of the country.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Suleiman-Jibiya, and announced in a statement by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Sani Danjuma, on Friday.
According to the statement, the decision is a precautionary step aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school staff, while reinforcing security measures already in place.
“The directive applies to all public, private, and community-owned schools within the state,” Danjuma said.
He acknowledged that the closure may inconvenience parents, guardians, school managers, and students, but stressed the need for full compliance in the interest of safety.
The ministry added that it is closely monitoring the security situation in collaboration with relevant agencies and will issue further updates as needed.
