Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have reportedly torched a primary and secondary school in Kautikari village, Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident occurred shortly after pupils of Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba were abducted and remained missing for nearly a month without any trace.
Security sources said the attackers invaded the community around 7pm on Saturday, in an area that has continued to experience repeated assaults by armed groups.
Although no deaths were reported, residents fled into surrounding bushes to escape the attack as the assailants set the school buildings on fire.
A local resident said the community had been attacked months earlier, but the previous assault did not involve the destruction of properties.
He expressed shock over the latest development, noting that the burning of schools marked a departure from earlier patterns of attacks in the area.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful as his phone line was not reachable.
