Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, saying it is time to “reset Nigeria.”
Makinde made the declaration during a joint mega rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The governor said his decision to join the presidential race was driven by the need to reposition the country and provide purposeful leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
