Former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, has described Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as one of Nigeria’s most treasured national assets, praising his enduring contributions to governance, democracy, and national unity.
Eulogising Dickson on his 60th birthday, Iworiso-Markson highlighted the senator’s patriotism, discipline, intellectual depth, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and democratic ideals, calling him a statesman of rare calibre.
“Senator Dickson’s public service journey reflects courage, vision, and consistency. His tenure as governor was marked by purposeful leadership, institutional reforms, and infrastructural consolidation in education, security, healthcare, and human capital development,” Iworiso-Markson said.
Having worked closely with Dickson for eight years—first as Chief Press Secretary and later as Commissioner for Information and Orientation between 2012 and 2020—Iworiso-Markson described him as a leader deeply attuned to his people’s aspirations and committed to the progress of the Ijaw nation, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria as a whole.
Beyond his gubernatorial achievements, Dickson has distinguished himself in the National Assembly, where he has been a strong, principled, and fearless advocate for the Niger Delta and the country’s democratic values. Iworiso-Markson noted that his interventions in the Senate consistently demonstrate intellectual rigor, respect for the constitution, and commitment to national interest, earning him respect across party lines.
