The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on May 11, where minimum cut-off marks for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be determined.
In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi, Abuja.
According to him, the annual gathering will bring together key stakeholders in the education sector to decide admission benchmarks, guidelines and policies for the 2026/2027 academic session.
He noted that the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to unveil major policy directions at the event.
“The policy meeting is a crucial platform where stakeholders agree on minimum UTME scores and other admission frameworks for tertiary institutions,” the statement said, adding that it will also set the tone for the upcoming admission exercise and emphasise strict compliance with established guidelines.
Participants at the meeting will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars and admission officers, alongside representatives of regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Benjamin added that goodwill messages are expected from agencies including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The event will also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), aimed at encouraging adherence to admission standards and improving the quality of tertiary education in the country.
