Jandor: Why I want to succeed Sanwo-Olu in 2027

The Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has declared his intention to run for the Lagos State governorship election in 2027 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jandor, who contested the 2023 governorship election on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed this in Lagos on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

According to him, his aspiration to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is driven by a desire to entrench inclusive governance, strengthen accountability, and improve service delivery across the state.

“It is not merely about ambition, but about articulating a shared vision for the future of Lagos. It is about stewardship, about building a Lagos where opportunity, innovation, and prosperity are accessible to all,” Jandor said.

The politician emphasised his respect for party supremacy, noting that his bid would be subject to APC’s internal democratic processes.

“We will subject ourselves to the internal democracy of the party in APC, and whatever the party decides, we’re going to work for the party. I am running for governor of Lagos State in 2027 under APC,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on his time in the PDP, Jandor blamed the party’s dwindling fortunes in Lagos on leadership failure, disregard for its constitution, and indiscipline.

He argued that “no serious politician should remain under the roof of PDP” due to what he described as persistent anti-party activities.

While stressing that the APC was more formidable now than in 2023, Jandor acknowledged that opposition coalitions, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Labour Party, could not be overlooked.

“As politicians, we don’t leave anything to chance. You expect the expected, even the unexpected,” Jandor noted, adding that the ruling APC’s current strength in Lagos makes it “very difficult for PDP or any opposition to win elections in the state at the moment.”

He highlighted that the Lagos4Lagos Movement’s grassroots structures across the 57 local council areas remained intact and ready to deliver victory for the APC in 2027.

“Unlike other political parties, nobody is leaving APC today; rather, people are coming in more. As far as Lagos is concerned, the victory of APC is going to be seamless in 2027,” Jandor said.
