Jigawa Informatics Institute receives Huawei multimedia laboratory

As part of its commitment to promote digital skills to enhance global digital network, Huawei Technology Company (Nigeria) Limited has built and commissioned a multimedia laboratory at the Jigawa State Institute of Information Technology. Kazaure.

In his welcome address at the event, the Rector of the Institute, Professor Babawuro Usman commended Huawei for executing the corporate social responsibility project in his school.

He described the project as timely as plans are presently in top gear to upgrade the Institute from a Monotechnic to a Polytechnics of Information Technology.

While speaking at the occasion, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Yunusa Danzomo said, the project executed in the Institute can only. be delivered by a responsible company which has the future of the society at heart.

The commissioner who was represented by the Chairman, Governing Board of the Institute, Engr. Auwal Ibrahim Abubakar, added that, “You can only give what you have. Yes, Huawei has given us what is best for them to give and we promise to ensure the best use of the Laboratory for achieving the desire goals.”

He expressed the readiness of the Institute Of Information Technology to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huawei Technological for mutual cooperation on manpower development in information technology skills.

The Registrar of the college, Malam Sadisu Buhari Babura said, the project executed by Huawei is the second of its kind of intervention the Institute has ever received from any private company since its establishment in 2002.

He commended Huawei for the kind gesture and urged other private companies to emulate it.

“We are all aware of the emergence of the novel Coronavirus which adversely affected academic activities at institutions of learning in Nigeria, so we are using this opportunity to appeal to wealthy individuals and companies to come to the aid .of the institutions by executing any needed intervention project to tackle the challenges”.

The Registrar then assured Huawei that, as the Institute maintains its determination to promote access to digital skills it will also promote Huawei products and its mission of promoting access to networks.

The Emir of Kazaure His Highness, Dr Najib Husaini Adamu who was represented by Alhaji Jamilu Umar (Makaman Kazaure) thanked the company for the intervention which he described as a reflection of Huawei’s good will for the future of Nigeria.
