Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has restated its strong commitment to community development and social impact as it marked the International Day of Charity with targeted outreach initiatives across the country.
In the company’s Region West operations, Julius Berger donated essential food and relief materials to two institutions — the Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice, a palliative home for children with disabilities, and the Shining Light Beach School Foundation.
The gesture was aimed at supporting vulnerable children and strengthening institutions providing critical care and educational support.
Speaking on behalf of management and staff, Mr. James Agama said Julius Berger’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy goes beyond routine philanthropy and is rooted in long-term, measurable impact.
“CSR at Julius Berger is anchored on long-term impact. It reflects our enduring commitment to building stronger communities, improving quality of life, and supporting causes that promote inclusivity, education, healthcare, and social welfare across Nigeria,” he said.
He added that the company’s CSR framework is built on four pillars—Education, Healthcare, Environmental Sustainability, and Community Development.
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the company’s support.
At Shining Light Beach School Foundation, founder Lady Salami Dorcas described the donation as timely, noting that the home had been struggling with dwindling contributions.
“I am super excited by the donation made today by Julius Berger because the burden of catering for food supply in this orphanage has been taken care of for a long period,” she said.
“We say a very big thank you to Julius Berger. May the Lord bless your company, management, and staff.”
The Julius Berger delegation to the Lagos outreach was led by Mr. Agama, alongside Mrs. Funke Obolo, Ero Sandra Onome, Mobolaji Ogunyemi, and Mercy Ogheneraye.
In a related activity in the Federal Capital Territory, Julius Berger made food donations and cash contributions to two orphanages—Destined Children Orphanage in Kado and Unique Choices Care Foundation in Kubwa.
At Destined Children Orphanage, which caters for 45 children aged between one month and 19 years, administrator Ms. Sarah Chukwuemeka expressed heartfelt gratitude.
“We are deeply grateful. What you have brought will go a long way,” she said, adding that the home, founded in 2017, relies heavily on such support.
“The children also responded with songs and prayers.
“At Unique Choices Care Foundation, founder Mrs. Choice C. Michael, who established the home after her husband’s passing, described the donation as overwhelming and emotionally uplifting.
“The foundation currently cares for 24 children and supports over 650 widows.
“I was overwhelmed with joy when I saw this. I thank Julius Berger a million times,” she said.
Speaking during the Abuja outreach, the company’s Public Relations Officer for Region Central and North, Mr. Akeem Lawal, reaffirmed Julius Berger’s continued commitment to supporting orphanages annually, especially during festive seasons.
He also announced that each home would receive an additional monetary donation.
The International Day of Charity, observed globally, encourages individuals, companies, and organisations to show compassion toward the less privileged and raise awareness about the struggles of vulnerable populations.
For Julius Berger, the observance reinforces a long-standing culture of “building beyond infrastructure,” with CSR initiatives serving as a bridge to touch lives and promote shared progress.
The company maintains that true corporate success is reflected not only in engineering excellence, but also in the lives positively impacted through deliberate social investment.
