Julius Berger MD commends Tinubu, Wike on Abuja infrastructure drive

The Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr. Peer Lubasch, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as unprecedented infrastructure development across Abuja.

Lubasch gave the commendation at a gala dinner marking the conclusion of 31 consecutive days of project flag-offs and commissioning ceremonies held as part of activities celebrating Abuja’s 50th anniversary.

He congratulated the Federal Capital Territory Administration and residents on the successful delivery of key infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges and public facilities, saying the developments would improve transportation, enhance public services and stimulate economic growth.

The Julius Berger boss praised President Tinubu for prioritising infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the administration’s commitment was evident in projects that were already benefiting residents.

He also lauded Wike for accelerating Abuja’s development through the completion of previously abandoned projects and the execution of new ones.

Reflecting on Abuja’s growth over the past five decades, Lubasch said the city had transformed from largely undeveloped land into one of Africa’s leading planned capitals, adding that the current pace of infrastructure delivery had restored confidence in the territory’s development.

He noted that communities across the FCT were witnessing visible improvements and said the scale of ongoing projects had positioned the capital for sustained growth.

In a lighter remark, Lubasch joked about the FCT minister’s insistence on timely project delivery, saying projects should not be left uncompleted but commissioned for public use.

According to him, the Abuja@50 celebrations recognised not only the city’s physical transformation but also the leadership, professionalism and collaboration that made the achievements possible.

Lubasch reaffirmed Julius Berger’s long-standing role in the development of Abuja, recalling that the company had constructed many of the capital’s roads, bridges, public buildings and other engineering landmarks since its inception.

“Abuja is more than a project location for Julius Berger; it is part of our corporate history. We are proud to have contributed to its development from the beginning and honoured to continue supporting its future growth,” he said.

He also acknowledged the contributions of other construction firms, consultants, engineers and workers involved in the FCT’s infrastructure programme, describing the achievements as a collective success for Nigeria’s construction industry.

Lubasch stressed that while contractors compete for projects, they share a common objective of delivering quality infrastructure that supports national development and improves the lives of citizens.

He added that Abuja’s development remained an ongoing process that would require sustained collaboration and visionary leadership.
