Justice Crack has shared his personal account of detention, stating that officials of the Department of State Services treated him professionally during his time in custody.
In a statement titled “My Experience with the DSS (Part One),” he alleged that he was initially abducted by unidentified individuals who claimed to be DSS operatives but were later discovered not to be affiliated with the agency.
According to him, after several days of being blindfolded and held by the unidentified men, he was eventually transferred to a DSS facility, where his blindfold was removed upon arrival.
He said an officer who received him reassured him of his safety and sought to calm him after noticing he was visibly shaken and traumatised.
The individual further disclosed that he was provided food, including tea and bread, and taken to a medical unit for health checks upon arrival.
He added that he was later accommodated in a room with other detainees, where he was given bedding and allowed to rest.
Justice Crack stated that during subsequent interactions, DSS officials conducted their investigation in a calm and professional manner, noting that he was neither physically assaulted nor subjected to intimidation while in custody.
He also said he was given regular meals and basic care, and observed that officials handling his case remained active, including during weekends and public holidays.
While commending the agency’s conduct in his case, he noted that improvements could still be made in areas such as the speed of investigations and administrative processes.
He emphasised that his account reflects only his personal experience and not a general assessment of the agency.
