Veteran Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has filed a Notice of Discontinuance in the ongoing tussle over the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland throne in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The development signals K1’s decision to withdraw from further legal or procedural involvement in the race for the revered traditional stool, bringing a new twist to the unfolding succession process.
The notice filed before the State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode on Monday was obtained on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
It read: “Take notice that the Claimant/Applicant herein wholly discontinues the above suit against the Defendant/Respondent pursuant to Order 23 (or relevant Order) of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this Honourable Court.
“The Applicant filed this suit following correspondences from the 2nd Respondent herein in 2025, which correspondences have been withdrawn.
“The Applicant respectfully prays that the Honourable Court record the discontinuance of this suit and make such orders as it deems fit.”
Another prince joins race for Awujale throne
The musician recently dragged the Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun before the High Court, seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the governor and five others from taking any steps in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Other respondents joined in the suit are the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government; the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council; and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1 had shown interest in the vacant stool, linking his lineage to the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
However, the family rejected the claim, stating that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no link with the royal house.
