Kaduna APC asks police to investigate attacks on members

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called on the police and other security agencies to investigate attacks on its members and the alleged vandalisation of party offices in the state.

The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Sani Dan Azare, said some of its offices and those of its support groups were vandalised during the incidents.

It also alleged that vehicles within its premises were damaged, while some APC members and supporters were assaulted and intimidated in other parts of the state.

The party urged the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation to establish what happened and identify those responsible.

“We urge the security agencies to independently examine every credible lead and all relevant evidence brought before them,” Dan Azare said.

The APC spokesman noted that different claims and allegations had emerged following the incidents, urging security agencies to establish the facts based on evidence.

He said Kaduna had made progress in overcoming political, ethnic and religious tensions that had previously affected the state’s stability.

“These hard-earned gains must not be endangered by violence, intimidation, vandalism or any other unlawful conduct,” he said.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful and lawful political engagement and urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly.

It also appealed to its members and support groups not to retaliate, asking them to remain calm and provide any relevant information to security agencies.

“No political contest is greater than the peace and security of Kaduna State. Let the facts be established. Let due process prevail. Let the law take its course,” Dan Azare said.
