Kaduna Assembly leaders secure APC tickets via consensus

The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Dahiru Liman, his Deputy, Magaji Danjuma, and Majority Leader, Munira Tanimu, have emerged as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their respective constituencies following consensus affirmation exercises across Kaduna State.

The party adopted consensus arrangements in several constituencies, leading to unopposed confirmations of key lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Liman was affirmed as the APC candidate for Makera State Constituency after securing unanimous support during the primary exercise, which had party leaders, electoral officials and supporters in attendance.

The Returning Officer, Ezekiel Gode, announced that Liman emerged unopposed after being adopted as the sole consensus candidate.

Similarly, Magaji Danjuma was affirmed as the party’s candidate for Kagarko State Constituency following a consensus process across wards, with the result officially declared at the local government collation centre.

In Lere East Constituency, Munira Tanimu also secured the APC ticket after a peaceful affirmation exercise conducted across six wards, with Returning Officer Aminu Yaro confirming her as the party’s flag bearer.

The development followed voluntary withdrawals by several APC aspirants across the state, who stepped down in favour of consensus candidates as part of efforts to strengthen party unity.

Some of the withdrawn aspirants include Abdulrazaq Labbo (Kaka/Gogi, Birnin Gwari), Mustapha Adam (Giwa West), Deborah Musa (Lere West), Isah Nasidi (Doka/Gabasawa), and Kabiru Bale-Ahmed (Kawo).

The group said the decision followed consultations and interventions aimed at maintaining cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers say the consensus-driven primaries reflect the Kaduna APC leadership’s effort to consolidate unity and reduce internal divisions ahead of the polls.
