“Properties worth N171,000 were saved from destruction within the period while properties worth N30,000 were destroyed,” he added.

Aboi noted that there was a reduction in fire outbreaks in the state, saying public enlightenment and heavy rains in August contributed to the reduction.

He said 70 per cent of fire incidents in the state resulted from carelessness on the part of residents, adding that most of the incidents were caused by electrical faults.

Aboi, however, urged the state government to ensure that all local government areas were equipped with fire fighting facilities just as he appealed to residents to ensure they have fire extinguishers in their homes.
