Kaduna now one united family under APC — Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani says his administration’s inclusive leadership style, rooted in fairness, justice, and equitable development, has attracted mass defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

Speaking at a mega rally in Kafanchan Township Stadium, where Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and three other lawmakers defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the governor declared that Kaduna is now “one big happy family under the canopy of the APC.”

According to him, the ruling party’s membership in the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly has grown significantly due to the defections. “As of May 29, 2023, the opposition had 12 members in the House of Representatives, while APC had four.

“Today, 10 of those members have joined us. In the State Assembly, seven PDP members have also crossed over to the APC,” he said.

The latest defectors include Senator Katung (Southern Kaduna), Hon. Dan Amos (Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency), Hon. Ali Kalat (Jema’a State Constituency), and Hon. Yusuf Mugu (Kaura Constituency), along with thousands of supporters.

Their defection marks a major political shift, as Southern Kaduna — once a PDP stronghold since 1999 — is now dominated by the APC.

Governor Sani emphasized that his administration has remained committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across all parts of the state.

“When we came on board in May 2023, we vowed to serve everyone, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliation.

“I’m happy to say that every local government in Kaduna is benefiting from our transformation agenda,” he said.

He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, including a 22-kilometre Madauchi–Kafanchan road nearing completion, a 24-kilometre Gwantu–Godogodo road linking Sanga and Jema’a, and a 28-kilometre Kauru–Kubau road set for commissioning soon.

Governor Sani also thanked President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, adding that the state government is constructing an asphalt road to connect the institution.

Representing President Tinubu at the event, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila praised Southern Kaduna for “embracing the reality of the president’s reforms,” noting that the defectors are “formidable leaders” who have joined a party “committed to delivering results.”

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, described the defection of Senator Katung and Hon. Amos as a “political earthquake,” commending both men for their integrity, leadership, and service to the people.

He particularly lauded Amos for his outstanding performance as Chairman of the House Committee on Services, saying, “When funds were short, he used his own.

“When problems arose, he provided solutions.

“That is leadership and service.”
