Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has been commended by pilgrims from the state for personally visiting them in Mina during the 2026 Hajj and offering prayers for peace and security in Nigeria.
The Head of the Kaduna State Hajj Delegation, Abubakar Mustapha, described the governor’s actions as a reflection of his commitment to the welfare of citizens and his concern for national unity.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, roads leading to the tent city in Mina were closed on the night of the 13th of Dhul Hijjah, forcing Governor Sani to trek about six kilometres to reach the Kaduna pilgrims.
Mustapha said the governor used the visit to congratulate the pilgrims and officials on what he described as a successful Hajj exercise.
He also disclosed that the governor presented each pilgrim with 300 Saudi Riyals to supplement their Basic Travelling Allowance.
According to him, the governor’s physical presence among the pilgrims was more significant than the financial support.
“He was the only governor who personally visited his pilgrims in their tents and encouraged them,” Mustapha said.
He added that Governor Sani urged the pilgrims to pray for an end to insecurity in Nigeria and cautioned against actions capable of causing division or instability in the country.
“The governor did not ask for personal prayers. Instead, he requested prayers for peace, security and national progress,” he said.
Mustapha also commended the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee, led by Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, for its management of the pilgrimage exercise, praising its transparency and accountability.
He noted that Kaduna pilgrims were accommodated in facilities located close to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, along Ibrahim Khalil Street in the Misfala district.
The delegation head further said the quality of meals provided to pilgrims was satisfactory, adding that concerns raised about inadequate sauce had already been addressed.
He also praised officials of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency for ensuring smooth Hajj operations and acknowledged the role of religious scholars in educating pilgrims on proper Hajj rites.
Mustapha singled out the preaching committee led by Sheikh Haliru Maraya for providing valuable guidance to pilgrims throughout the exercise.
A former Head of the Kaduna State Civil Service, Mustapha said he had participated in previous pilgrimages since 1981 and served as Amirul Hajj in 1999, but described this year’s Hajj as the best he had experienced.
