Kaduna: Police restrict movement ahead of Saturday by-election

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in parts of the state ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections.

In a statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the restriction would take effect from 12:00 a.m. in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas.

Hassan explained that the measure was part of security arrangements to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the polls.

“Only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election assignments will be exempted. Members of the public are strongly advised to comply with this directive,” he stated.

The police urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
