Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said the state will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, citing what he described as significant federal projects and development initiatives delivered to Kaduna and the country at large.

The governor spoke on Sunday during a stakeholders’ engagement on the ongoing nationwide e-registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing stakeholders from Zone 2, he said Kaduna State is targeting 2.5 million registered members, noting that the APC has become the dominant political party in the state.

Governor Sani attributed the growing strength of the APC to his administration’s inclusive development approach—where projects are spread across all parts of the state—as well as to federal interventions under President Tinubu. He said these factors have prompted many opposition members to defect to the ruling party.

Among the projects highlighted was the Kaduna Light Rail, which he said has received N1 billion in federal support. According to the governor, such backing is unprecedented in northern Nigeria, with only Lagos State enjoying similar support for a light rail project.

He also disclosed that President Tinubu approved Kaduna as the pilot state for a large-scale poultry project following discussions initiated by the federal government. The project, which has received approval for $200 million in funding, is expected to generate about 350,000 jobs and support 10,000 direct and indirect small and medium-sized enterprises linked to poultry farming. Groundbreaking, he said, is expected within weeks, and the project will be the largest of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa.

Governor Sani further listed key road projects approved by the federal government, including the Mando–Birnin Gwari road and the reconstruction of the Kwoi–Jema’a road, describing them as critical to the state’s development.

He noted that additional projects have been approved in partnership with the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, particularly for Zone 1 of the state. According to him, the northern senatorial district has benefited significantly, adding that having the Speaker from Kaduna has been advantageous.

The governor also praised the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, for supporting major environmental and climate-related projects under the ACReSAL programme. He said groundwork would soon begin on major erosion-control and infrastructure projects in Zaria and Rigasa valued at about N53 billion.

Governor Sani said the combination of state-led initiatives and federal support positions Kaduna to be one of the leading states in the APC e-registration exercise.

The engagements were held across the three senatorial zones of the state, with meetings involving stakeholders from Zone 2 on Saturday, and Zones 1 and 3 on Sunday, covering all local government areas in Kaduna State.
