The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Saidu Yahaya, has resigned from office.
Yahaya reportedly submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, following pressure from the Kano State Government over allegations that he had not performed to expectations.
He was appointed chairman of the commission in August 2025 after the expiration of the tenure of his predecessor, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado.
The Kano State House of Assembly subsequently confirmed him for a five-year tenure.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had recently criticised Yahaya publicly, accusing him of failing to deliver on his responsibilities as head of the state’s anti-corruption agency.
The commission’s Legal Secretary, Hafsat Kutama, is expected to assume office as acting chairman from Wednesday.
Yahaya’s resignation brings to an end his tenure at the commission barely over a year after his appointment.
