The Kano State House of Assembly has scheduled the screening of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo for Monday, following his nomination as Deputy Governor by Governor Abba Yusuf.
The announcement was made in a Facebook post on Wednesday by Kamaludden Shawai, spokesperson to House Speaker Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore, who confirmed that the Assembly had officially received the governor’s correspondence regarding the nomination.
Governor Yusuf transmitted Garo’s name to the Assembly for screening and confirmation, citing Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which empowers a governor to nominate a deputy where a vacancy exists.
The deputy governorship seat became vacant following the voluntary resignation of Abdussalam Gwarzo on March 27, 2026.
