The Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Namadi, has tendered his resignation following controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
Namadi’s resignation came shortly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the findings of a committee set up to investigate the incident.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the former Commissioner said his decision was made in the overriding public interest and due to the sensitive nature of the matter.
“While I maintain my innocence, I cannot ignore the weight of public perception and the need to protect the values we have collectively built,” Namadi stated.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and public trust.
“As a responsible citizen, I must protect and uphold the trust and vision we have worked to instil in our dear state. I remain loyal to the ideals that brought this administration to power,” he added.
Governor Yusuf has accepted the resignation and wished Namadi well in his future endeavours. He reiterated his administration’s firm stance on justice, discipline, and the fight against drug abuse and social vices.
The Governor also advised all political appointees to exercise caution in sensitive matters and to seek proper clearance before engaging in any action with potential public implications.
