A Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu, has sentenced two men, Buhari Abdullahi and Umar Mukhtar Usman, to six months imprisonment each for impersonating operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The conviction, secured by the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate on Friday, July 25, followed their arraignment on a one-count charge bordering on false representation as EFCC investigators.

According to the charge, the duo, in May 2025, used forged EFCC identity cards to pose as officials of the anti-graft agency, with the intent to deceive unsuspecting members of the public — an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 132 of the Penal Code Law.

Both defendants pleaded guilty to the offence.

Following their plea, EFCC counsel Idris I. Haruna presented the case facts and urged the court to convict the defendants.

Justice Saminu thereafter sentenced them to six months imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine each.

The convicts were apprehended by EFCC operatives before being arraigned in court.
