Kano pilgrims face Hajj seat loss over passport deadline

Intending pilgrims from Kano State risk losing their slots for the 2026 Hajj if they fail to submit valid international passports to the state Pilgrims Welfare Board by August 25.

The warning was issued by the Director-General of the board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, on Saturday in Kano.

The board said the deadline was necessary to complete the enrolment and documentation of registered pilgrims ahead of the pilgrimage.

It explained that the decision was also prompted by the anticipated closure of the Saudi Arabian Hajj registration portal towards the end of August.

The board therefore urged all registered intending pilgrims who had yet to submit their passports to do so before the August 25 deadline.

It warned that failure to meet the deadline could affect the allocation of Hajj seats and said it would not be held responsible for any consequences arising from non-compliance.

The board advised intending pilgrims to treat the directive as urgent and ensure that their documentation was completed within the stipulated period.
