DOSF-UK, a theatre company, is set to make its international debut with Kashimawo, a historical stage play inspired by the life and political legacy of late Nigerian businessman and politician, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.
In a statement on Wednesday in Lagos, DOSF-UK Director, Chantal Edgar, said the production aims to share Nigerian history with European and diaspora audiences while honouring Abiola’s memory.
“Kashimawo is the second in our series of historical expositions for Europe and the diaspora.
“It draws from the remarkable journey of MKO Abiola, weaving his story with the whimsical interference of the gods in the life of a ‘poor orphan,’” Edgar said.
The London debut, scheduled for October 4 and 5, will feature veteran actor Biodun Abbey in the lead role, alongside an international cast.
The production has the support of Abiola’s son, Kola Abiola, and is produced by actress and filmmaker Tayo Elesin under the Elesin Productions platform.
The play is directed by Prof. Rasaki Ojo and first premiered in Lagos on March 31 and April 1, 2024, under the Duke of Shomolu Foundation.
