The wife of the slain vice principal of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, has disclosed how her husband was killed by bandits during an attack on the school.
Amina Hassan, the wife of the murdered vice principal, Hassan Makuku, revealed that she tried to wake her husband up after hearing noise outside their house at 3:30 a.m. on Monday before the bandits burst in.
The assailants killed the vice principal and abducted 25 students during an attack on the school on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Amina disclosed that the assailants dressed in army camouflage were Fulanis because she heard them speaking Fulani.
She added that her daughter managed to escape into the bush after the gunmen got distracted by the schoolgirls.
The woman said: “They forced the door open and woke him, asked him to say his last prayers. While doing it, one of them pulled out his gun and shot my husband at close range and he died immediately.

“He (bandit) then dragged me by my hand outside the house and I told them to leave me alone, that I would not go with them since they have killed the father of my children.
“I was still arguing with them when my daughter came out, then they left me and went to her and took her with them.
“After killing my husband and the night guard, they went straight to Adamu Aliero Hostel in the school and randomly seized the girls, warning that any girl who hid would be killed.”
Monday’s raid was the second mass school abduction in Kebbi in four years, following a June 2021 incident when bandits took more than 100 students and staff members from a government college.
Those students were released in batches over two years after parents raised ransoms. Some of the students were forcefully married off and returned with babies.
