The Kebbi State Government has received 273,000 doses of animal vaccines from the Federal Government to help curb the spread of trans-border animal diseases and strengthen livestock health across the state.
The vaccines were delivered through the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS).
Receiving the consignments on behalf of the state, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries, Ramatu Usman Dabai, thanked the Federal Government for including Kebbi among the key beneficiaries of the intervention.
She described the support as a major boost to the state’s efforts to protect animal health and enhance food security.
According to Dabai, the supplies include 150,000 doses of Newcastle Disease vaccines for poultry, 120,000 doses of Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia vaccines for cattle, and 3,000 doses of Foot and Mouth Disease vaccines.
She added that the intervention was timely and aligned with Governor Nasir Idris’s drive to modernise the livestock sector.
The vaccines were presented by the state coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Yushau Umar Gwamba, who urged the state government to ensure effective distribution across livestock populations in all 21 local government areas.
