Keyamo: Akpabio in Aso Rock after Senate’s rowdy session

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is currently at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following a rowdy session at the Senate over the screening of a ministerial nominee, Festus Keyamo.

Akpabio was seen at the State House at about 3 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023.

Though the agenda of the Senate President at the Villa was not yet known as of press time, it might not be unconnected to an altercation on the floor of the Senate on Monday.

The Senate was earlier thrown into a rowdy session over a motion seeking to stop the screening of Keyamo as miniterial nominee.

This occurred after the lawmaker representing Abia Central, Darlington Nwokocha, moved a motion when Keyamo appeared before the senators.

Nwokocha raised the motion for suspension of Kayemo’s screening pending investigation and explanation on how disbursement of N52 billion public works programme to Nigerians across 774 local governments during his tenure as Minister State for Labour and Employment.
