In a significant move to bolster security and safeguard lives and property, the Kogi State Security Trust Fund has donated 16 refurbished patrol vehicles to key security agencies operating across the state.
The handover ceremony, held Thursday in Lokoja, highlights the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s ongoing commitment to combating crime and maintaining peace throughout the state.
Representing the Governor at the event, Mrs. Funmilayo Bello, Administrative Officer in the Office of the Director General, Government House Administration, emphasized that the initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to public safety and its broader goal of fostering a secure environment for sustainable development. She also stood in for the Director General of Government House, Umar Shaibu.
Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, retired Air Vice Marshal Faruk Omeiza, commended Governor Ododo for his consistent efforts to upgrade the state’s security infrastructure.
He noted that the refurbished vehicles symbolize the government’s resolve to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of security personnel.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the various agencies, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Daba Mallam—who represented the State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye—expressed gratitude to the state government.

He assured that the vehicles would be deployed strategically and maintained for maximum effectiveness.
Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Idonie Felix, also lauded the state’s gesture, affirming that it would significantly improve the corps’ operational capacity.
He pledged the NSCDC’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
Other security agencies in attendance included the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Kogi State Vigilante Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Their representatives also expressed appreciation and reiterated their dedication to supporting government efforts in ensuring peace and security.
Yunusa Jimoh, a representative of Access Bank, underscored the bank’s ongoing support for the state’s security initiatives through strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility programs.
The highlight of the event was the formal handover of the patrol vehicles to the heads of the security agencies, marking a notable stride in the state government’s proactive approach to strengthening its security framework.
