Kwankwaso backs Jibrin’s expulsion, promises stronger NNPP candidate in 2027

Former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has endorsed the expulsion of Abdulmumin Jibrin from the party, describing the move as timely and necessary for its survival.

The NNPP state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, had earlier announced Jibrin’s dismissal, accusing the Kiru/Bebeji lawmaker of constant attacks on the party and its leadership.

He also labelled him a “weak politician” who only won elections through the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Addressing elders and traditional leaders from Jibrin’s constituency who paid him a solidarity visit in Kano, Kwankwaso said the party must purge itself of disloyal members to remain strong.

“This movement is our life and that of our supporters.

“To protect it, we must ensure only loyal and capable leaders remain,” he stated.

He assured that in the 2027 elections, the NNPP would field a stronger candidate to replace Jibrin.

“When the time comes, we will carefully choose a better candidate who will truly represent the people, the party, and its ideals,” Kwankwaso said.
