The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned politicians who have defected from the party or abandoned the Kwankwasiyya movement that they will face the political repercussions of their actions in the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso issued the warning during an interview with BBC Hausa as part of activities marking his 69th birthday celebration.

The former Kano State governor said those leaving the movement were acting at their own risk, insisting that the Kwankwasiyya political structure would not forget acts of betrayal.

“At this stage, anyone who believes he can defect and still come to Kano to win an election is only deceiving himself.

“Our movement will continue to deal with those who turn their backs on it,” he said.

Kwankwaso added that his political ideology is founded on principles and loyalty, not personal animosity, stressing that steadfastness remains the cornerstone of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
