Kwara United have parted ways with head coach Tunde Sanni following a disappointing run of results that saw the team suffer three defeats in four matches, including a 1–0 home loss to Abia Warriors on Matchday 7 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Although Sanni led the Ilorin-based club to their first-ever President’s Federation Cup triumph, his recent poor form, which also included back-to-back losses to Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup, prompted the club’s management to make a change.
In a statement, the club confirmed that assistant coach Ashifat Suleiman, popularly known as Brazil, has been appointed interim head coach with immediate effect.
Suleiman will take charge of the team’s upcoming Matchday 8 fixture against Kano Pillars.
At the time of Sanni’s dismissal, Kwara United were placed 10th on the NPFL table with eight points from seven matches.
