The management of Kwara State University (KWASU) has announced the relocation of staff and students of Ilesha-Baruba campus to Malete over the rising insecurity in the state.
The KWASU Acting Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, made this known in via a statement issued on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Aliyu said the relocation was a precautionary security measure, adding that the university management was at Ilesha-Baruba over the weekend to pass the information to the affected staff and students.
The university management directed students and staff at its Ilesha-Baruba campus to relocate to the main campus in Malete, citing growing security concerns in the region.
The students were urged to pack essential items as the university works to secure safer accommodation on the main campus.

The directive came shortly after the KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and other top officials visited the Ilesha-Baruba campus on November 30 to assess welfare conditions and facilities.
The evacuation is expected to remain in effect until the security situation stabilises and normal academic activities resume.
Aliyu also announced the weeklong 13th convocation ceremony of the university, which will commence on December 9.
“After the event, the entire student body of the university is expected to proceed on the mid-semester break ahead of resumption in January,” Aliyu added.
