Lagos police shares Raheem’s killer’s picture, says officer in dentention

The Lagos State Police Command says it has not released the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Drambi Vandi, who allegedly killed a lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem, in the Ajah area of the state on Christmas Day.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known via a post on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

Hundeyin, who shared the picture of the alleged killer of the lawyer, said the police officer is still in detention.

The police spokesperson said investigations have shown that the other two officers who were with ASP Drambi had no hand in the shooting incident, noting that they have been released.

“ASP Drambi Vandi is still in detention!

“Investigation has shown that the other two officers with him had no hand in the shooting incident. They have, therefore, been released.

“Claims that the officer responsible for the shooting has been released is totally false” Hundeyin stated.

He added that the report on the investigation has been forwarded to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further necessary action.

It would be recalled that ASP Vandi, attached to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, allegedly shot and killed Raheem on Christmas Day.

It was gathered that the lawyer, her sister, and other family members were returning from an outing in their car when the police officer tried to stop them.

The woman was said to have tried to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge when the ASP allegedly shot at her vehicle and the bullet hit her.

The Lagos-based lawyer was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, on Wednesday, suspended Vandi for the alleged murder.
