Lagos police: We arrested Commissioner DJ Wysei, not DJ Switch

The Lagos State Police Command says its operatives arrested popular disc jockey, Commissioner DJ Wysei, and not her colleague, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, fondly called DJ Switch, as widely reported.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Reports had earlier emerged that the police arrested DJ Switch for allegedly assaulting police officers in Lagos.

It was alleged that DJ Switch, who became more popular during the EndSARS protest, obstructed and assaulted female police officers because she did not like the way the police handled a case she reported to them.

Hundeyin, however, tendered a public apology for a mix-up in the alleged arrest, noting that Commissioner DJ Wysei was arrested by the police and not DJ Switch.

He stated: “There is a mixup from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch.

“Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning.

“Apologies to DJ Switch too. 🙏🏻”
