The Lagos State Government has released the 2026 Land Use Charge (LUC) bills, reaffirming its commitment to funding critical infrastructure and essential public services across the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Tajudeen Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, urging property owners to take advantage of a 15 per cent discount for early payment.
The statement, made available to journalists by the Director of Public Affairs in the ministry, Adeleke Quadri, emphasised the need for voluntary compliance, noting that enforcement actions against 2025 defaulters would commence soon.
Mahmud described the Land Use Charge as a vital source of revenue for the state, used to finance the development, maintenance and upgrade of public infrastructure such as roads, healthcare facilities, schools and security systems.
He noted that taxpayers’ contributions have already supported transformative projects aimed at easing urban mobility and reducing travel time across Lagos.
“LUC is not just a statutory obligation; it is a civic responsibility that directly supports the growth and development of our state,” he said. “Every payment made contributes to better roads, improved healthcare, quality education, enhanced security and a cleaner environment.”
The permanent secretary called on all property owners to meet their obligations promptly in support of the government’s development agenda.
He further stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains committed to building a safe, resilient and globally competitive megacity through sustained infrastructure investment and deliberate policy implementation.
According to him, the state government will continue to drive sustainable development, attract investments and strengthen Lagos’ position as a leading hub for commerce and innovation.
Property owners were advised that payments can be made through designated platforms to ensure a seamless and convenient process.
