Lagos State University (LASU), University of Lagos (UNILAG), and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) are the most preferred Nigerian universities for 2025 admissions.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this during the 2025 policy meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions in Abuja on Tuesday, July 8.
Oloyede said the universities were the most sought-after institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session from the over two million candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Out of the top 10 most sought after universities, only the Lagos State University is owned by a state government.
The nine others are owned by the federal government.
