The Federal Government has transferred the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to a correctional centre in Sokoto State following his life sentence.
The IPOB leader’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this on Friday, November 21, 2025.
“MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and wellwishers,” Ejimakor wrote on X.
Judge brands Kanu ‘international terrorist’ as court hands life sentence
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Thursday sentenced the IPOB leader to life imprisonment after he was convicted on seven terrorism charges.
The Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) had yet to speak on his transfer to a correctional centre in Sokoto State as of the time of filing this report.
