The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited Maiduguri, Borno State, following the recent IED explosions, where he met with victims and assessed security conditions at affected locations.
During his visit, the police chief stopped at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where those injured in the blasts are receiving treatment.
He expressed sympathy to the victims and their families, assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to tracking down and dismantling those responsible for the attacks.
He also visited the Maiduguri Monday Market, one of the locations targeted in the incident, to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation.
While there, he engaged with security personnel to evaluate response strategies and improve operational coordination.
As part of his engagements, the IGP proceeded to the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters to strengthen collaboration between federal and state security agencies.
He noted that security measures across Maiduguri and surrounding areas have been intensified, including increased patrols, enhanced surveillance, and joint operations.
Residents were reassured of the police force’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the wake of the attacks.
